The world of medical imaging or PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) is exploding and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.  With advances in modalities (MR, CT, PET, Ultrasound, Mammograms, etc..) comes a massive flood of medical information and a greater demand for diagnostic imaging, which is expected to grow exponentially over the years.  Coupled with advance growth are the major issues of collaboration, migration and management of existing disparate PACS. 

In fact, the goal of achieving uneventful, continuous interoperability among PACS, post-processing, and modality software is the most difficult challenge for any PACS administrator working in the healthcare enterprise today.
